Quick facts
About Dinkel Power Skating
Dinkel Power Skating has been running sessions out of Sportsworld Arena in Kitchener since 1979, making it one of the longer-standing power skating programmes in the Waterloo Region. Founded by Gary Dinkel, the programme serves hockey and ringette players with a focus on stride power, agility, foot speed, and on-ice mobility. Summer 2025 classes are scheduled beginning July 28–29, and the programme extends to players in Waterloo and Cambridge as well.
Offerings include group power skating classes and private lessons, aimed at youth and teen athletes from U8 through U18. Reviewers have noted that Gary assesses each skater's individual level before progressing them, and that improvements tend to be measurable across sessions. The programme is described by returning families as a regular annual commitment.
What parents say
“Gary does an amazing job taking the time to assess each child/tween/teen to know their skill level. Done many other power skating sessions and none have advanced my children's skills like this one. Not always "fun" but always good. I always recommend, we sign up every year.”
