About Brant Figure Skating Club
Founded in 1947, the Brant Figure Skating Club is based at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, Ontario. Programmes run from PreCanSkate for preschool-aged beginners through StarSkate levels for competitive athletes, with NCCP-certified Skate Canada coaches overseeing instruction. Power skating sessions for hockey-focused participants are also offered alongside the figure skating curriculum.
The club accommodates skaters across a wide age range and provides structured competitive testing opportunities through the StarSkate pathway. One reviewer has raised concerns about coach-to-skater ratios in the PreCanSkate programme; prospective registrants with young children may wish to ask about current group sizes and staffing when considering enrolment.
What parents say
“Edit: We’ve stayed until the end and the only update I have is that the bubblies have stopped. Still a waste of our money. Feeling really guilty for signing my son up for PreCan skate. This program is very poorly run, they don’t have enough proper coaches for the amount of children in the group. Lots of preteens on the ice, but they spend the time blowing bubbles and playing around more with each other than paying attention to the kids. I wish I took my money elsewhere.”
