About Controlling The Game
Controlling The Game (CTG Hockey) operates out of Courtice, Ontario, offering on-ice and off-ice hockey training with a focus on game-situational development. The programme is led by founder Justin MacDonald and a staff of former professional players, who deliver shooting clinics, stickhandling drills, and private one-on-one sessions designed to build practical, in-game skills.
CTG's programming spans summer camps, team development, and individual training, with primary emphasis on youth players in the U8–U13 age range. Fitness and real-game scenarios are central to the approach, with sessions structured to connect off-ice conditioning to on-ice performance.
Review feedback highlights MacDonald's motivational presence and his attentiveness to team-level development alongside individual skill work.
What parents say
“Justin has been training my girls hockey team for couple months now. He is motivational, passionate, disciplined, and eager to develop them. His commitment on and off the ice to develop the girls is amazing. My team responded very well to him and eagar to take his direction on the ice. The growth in our team in a few months is more then I could have expected. His communication is great with me as the coach to insure we are on the same page for expectations of what im wanting from him and what i need to do to continue developing the girls when he isn't there. Ive had parents thanking him for showing there daughter skills they yet to be taught at the U13 age. He is good at covering all aspects of the game. Absolutely 💯 recommend CTG.”
