About Cloverdale Skating Club
The Cloverdale Skating Club operates out of the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex in Surrey, British Columbia, a facility featuring two full-size rinks with dedicated figure skating spaces. Programming follows the Skate Canada pathway, beginning with CanSkate for new skaters and extending through Star Academy, Junior STARSkate, and into Bronze through High Performance streams.
Advanced Adult and Teen CanSkate sessions provide structured options for older recreational skaters alongside the competitive development pathways. The club's range of programmes accommodates skaters entering the sport for the first time as well as those training at higher levels.
What parents say
“My 5 year old daughter just quit the club after being there for about two months. A terrible thing happened to her while she was there. A boy in her group was always bothering her, talking to her and touching her. She felt so upset. I told the teacher and she said it had been brought to her attention that my daughter had been having some problems with the boy in her group. Rather than withdrawing from the program, the coaches said that they would be more aware of this situation now that they knew. After a week, in the first 30 minutes of the class, that boy kept chasing my daughter and suddenly blocked her way and she ended up falling. She was very hurt but she stood up bravely. The coach at that time didn’t do anything. During the last 15 minutes another coach was there but that boy still kept bothering my daughter. The coach did not even realize that. While my daughter was skating, that boy blocked her way again very quickly. My daughter raised her hand to shield herself but then that boy forcefully pushed her to the ground with both hands. A couple parents saw that and they were shocked. I no longer recommend this club to any other child.”
